Devonport, Tasmania – The Bluff 2 Boat Ramp 10km race is set to showcase its most elite field ever, with Olympians, Commonwealth Games medallists, and world championship representatives converging on the coastal city for an exhilarating contest.
The annual event has lifted its profile this year with higher prize money, we will see some of the fastest long-distance runners in Australian history take to the course, ensuring an electrifying battle from start to finish.
Among the headline names gracing the start line are decorated athletes, including Liam Adams, Jess Stenson, Sarah Klein, Tasmanian Olympian Milly Clark, Sam Clifford, fresh off second place at the Australian 10,000m championships, and in-form runner Haftu Strintzos, who ran a low 60-minute half marathon, who have represented Australia on the world stage.
With their impressive international experience, these runners bring an unprecedented level of prestige to the event. Additionally, the women’s field features nine athletes with personal bests under 35 minutes, promising a highly competitive and fast race. Spectators can expect to witness an extraordinary display of endurance, speed, and tactical racing as these elite competitors push the pace along the picturesque, flat and fast course.
“This is, without a doubt, the most stacked field we’ve ever had in Devonport,” said race director Brian Lyons. “To have Olympians, Commonwealth Games medallists, and world championship contenders all lining up together is something truly special for the local running community and fans of the sport.”
This year’s event will be the Tasmanian 10km Road Running Championships, adding further incentive for Tasmanian runners to win a State Championship.
The fast and scenic route along the Tasmanian coastline is flat and built for speed, having been awarded World Athletics Rankings status, making it an attractive course for elite competitors and record-chasers alike. With a field this deep, course records are expected to be under serious threat. Impressively, six men in the field have broken 29 minutes for 10km, setting the stage for an exceptionally fast race. Racing enthusiasts are eager to see if the elite pack can deliver a historic performance and push the boundaries of what’s possible on the Bluff 2 Boat Ramp course.
Runners will compete for a prize pool of $17,000, adding further incentive to an already fiercely competitive race.
